By and large, all of the ECUs used on these models were designed by Mitsubishi and manufactured by Kefico Electric in Korea. The parts that go bad in these units do so when TIME & TEMPERATURE dictate and have nothing to do with the cars mileage. Many customers have said: "The guy at the salvage yard said the engine ran just fine when they bought the car so he knows it was good".
Well, the man at the recycler was most likely telling the truth. These units go bad just sitting in a hot car OR on the shelf at the salvage yard waiting to be sold.
